SketchGuess Privacy Policy

We collect the information needed to create and run a SketchGuess session: a username you choose, an avatar selection, a language preference, a session token stored on your device, and room participation data.

During gameplay, the backend processes room codes, chat messages, guesses, scores, drawing strokes, canvas snapshots, and room state so the game can work in real time for all players in a room.

Our infrastructure receives standard technical logs such as IP address, timestamps, and request metadata for security, reliability, and abuse prevention.

To create and resume your player profile within a session.

To create, join, and operate rooms and matches.

To synchronize drawings, guesses, scores, and round state across players in real time.

To restore interrupted sessions and rejoin players who lose connection mid-game.

To prevent abuse, debug issues, and keep the service running safely.

Your username, avatar, score, guesses, chat messages, and drawing activity are visible to other players in the same room so the game can be played. This data is not shared outside the room.

We do not sell personal information.

We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs in the app.

Service providers that host the backend, database, realtime sockets, and related infrastructure may process information on our behalf under standard data processing agreements.

Player profiles and room data are kept only as long as needed to provide the service, support rejoin behavior, and meet legal or operational requirements.

Room snapshots, chat messages, and drawing state are ephemeral — they are cleared when a room ends or when the backend cleanup flow removes stale rooms (typically within minutes of the last player leaving).

Session tokens stored on your device persist until you clear app data or uninstall the app. Server-side session records are cleaned up when they expire.

If you stop using the app, clearing the app session or uninstalling the app removes local session storage on your device. Server-side records may remain until routine cleanup removes them.

You can clear your local session at any time by clearing app data or uninstalling the app. This removes your session token and local preferences from your device.

To request deletion of your player profile or session data from our servers, contact us at the address below. We will process deletion requests within a reasonable timeframe, typically within 30 days.

Because room data is ephemeral and shared with other players in real time, we cannot selectively remove individual contributions (such as a specific chat message or drawing) from a room that has already ended.

Session tokens are transmitted over HTTPS and stored in the device's secure storage (Keystore on Android, Keychain on iOS).

All communication between the app and the backend is encrypted in transit using TLS.

Drawing data and game state are stored in-memory and in a transient database/redis layer that is cleared when rooms end.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect the information we process, but no system is perfectly secure.

You can choose any username and avatar — they are not tied to an email address or phone number.

You can leave a room at any time. Your connection is dropped and your in-room data stops being shared.

You can start a new session at any time, which generates a new session token and profile.

You can request deletion of your server-side data by contacting us.

SketchGuess is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

The app does not require an email address, phone number, or account creation, and does not use age-gating or targeted content.

SketchGuess is available globally. If you access the service from outside the region where our servers are hosted, your information may be transferred to and processed in that server region.

By using the app, you consent to this transfer of information in accordance with this privacy policy.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

If we make material changes to how we handle user data, we will update this page before the changes take effect.

Continued use of the app after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
